Solutions

Loose band or loose bracket If the band or bracket is still attached to wire, leave it in place, and if uncomfortable apply wax to it.  If band or bracket comes out completely, wrap it in tissue.

Loose wire Try to place the wire back in place with tweezers.  If that is not possible, clip the wire with fingernail clippers (behind the last tooth to which it is securely fastened).  Apply wax if uncomfortable.

Poking wire Try to push the sticking wire down with a spoon or eraser.  Apply wax as needed.

Soreness Rinse regularly with warm salt water.  Use tylenol as necessary.

Headgear does not fit Usually caused by not wearing the headgear as prescribed.  If the facebow is bent, call the office during next available business hours.

Loose appliance Apply wax if appliance is sticking or poking

Spacer missing or unattached Call office during regular business hours to arrange an appointment to replace the spacer.

Elastic tie or chain breaks or comes off bracket Call the office during next available business hours.
